There are few new Windows Mobile 6.5 phones on the shelves, so let's have a closer look on new Microsoft's operating system for mobiles.
New look and feel
"Honeycomb" Start screen
The new Start screen lets you easily access your programs or favourite web sites. You can customise it by moving the most used apps to the top.
Today screen
You can easily customize your Today screen to display and access with a touch of your finger your e-mail, calendar, text, pictures, music, getting started, phone, voicemail, clock and favourites.
Designer themes
Microsoft has partnered up with well known artists and fashion designers to provide you with exclusive themes. Or if you like you can create your own theme simply use a Theme Generator to customise interface colours, add your favourite picture, as a wallpaper and send it all up to your phone.
Lock screen
The new lock screen displays new messages, appointments, alerts and notifications and while you're on the call - mute, speakerphone, and hold.
Handy new widgets
The new MSN Widgets provide real-time information on weather and stocks.
New Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer Mobile 6 provides PC-like Internet browsing experience – with better support of full HTML, new JavaScript engine and also Adobe Flash Lite. It makes it easier to buy a ticket, find your way or pay a bill.
New services
Windows Marketplace for Mobile
With Windows Marketplace for Mobile you can find and download the latest apps for your phone. This service is at the moment exclusive to devices with WM 6.5 version, however Microfoft plans to make it available to 6 and 6.1 versions later this year.
Microsoft My Phone
You can use Microsoft My Phone to backup all your data, including your contacts, calendar, photos, and more, to a password-protected website. Once synced, all your content can be accessed easily from the My Phone site.
Windows Mobile 7 is due next year.
